Why Steam Cleaning Works

At the Grout Medic we only use steam to clean your tiled areas. Our process is the best of both worlds. Both effective and green. Steam cleaning tiled surfaces is a safe and effective method for several reasons. To understand why, it's important to know how steam cleaning works and why it's suitable for cleaning tile surfaces. So, let’s get into it!

How Steam Cleaning Works

Steam cleaning, also known as vapor cleaning, utilizes high-temperature steam to clean and disinfect various surfaces, including tiles.

A steam cleaner heats water to a high temperature (usually between 200°F to 300°F or 93°C to 148°C) and converts it into pressurized steam. The steam is typically delivered through a nozzle or wand.

The high-temperature steam is released onto the tile surface. The combination of heat and pressure helps to dislodge dirt, grime, and bacteria from the tile and grout. The steam penetrates the porous surface of the tiles and grout lines, reaching deep-seated dirt and stains. The heat from the steam also helps dissolve grease, oils, and other substances, while the pressure forces them to loosen and detach from the surface.

Why Steam Cleaning is Safe and Effective for Tiled Surfaces

Steam cleaning relies solely on water vapor, making it an eco-friendly and chemical-free cleaning method. This is especially important for homes with pets, children, or individuals with chemical sensitivities.

But just because this method is green does not mean that it isn’t powerful. The high-temperature steam effectively kills bacteria, germs, and dust mites on contact. It also removes mold and mildew from grout lines and tiles.

Steam cleaners are versatile and can be used on various tiled surfaces, including floors, walls, countertops, and even in bathrooms and kitchens.

Steam cleaning helps reduce allergens like pollen and pet dander that may be trapped in grout lines and on tile surfaces.

Since steam cleaning uses water vapor, there's no residue left behind, which is common with some chemical cleaners. This means surfaces stay cleaner longer.

Of course, there are household steam cleaners on the market that can do a fine job, but our team uses professional grade steam cleaning equipment that is suited for tough and stubborn dirt and grime. When you need your tiled surfaces cleaned and renewed, give our Grout Medic team a call!
