Tile Types Explained - Pt. 3

In the final installment of this series, we will discuss three more types of tile that are available for you to choose from. Hopefully, with these articles as a reference, you can confidently know how to choose and care for whichever kind of tile you have in your home.

Mosaic

Mosaic tiles are great choices for anyone wanting to stretch their creative muscles. You can select them in all sorts of shapes, colors, and sizes and you can arrange them in any manner or pattern that you fancy. Popular patterns can become outdated rather quickly, however, so it may be best to rely on what you personally like and not fall victim to trends. These tiles really shine as accent pieces.

Metal

Metal tiles offer superior durability. They generally sit around the same price range as natural stone tiles, but they will not chip or sustain damage as those tiles will. What they will, however, develop a patina over time. While some people love this quality, others may not. So do keep that in mind. Ultimately, metal tiles are a great choice for lots of applications. Kitchen counters, backsplashes, bars, and much more.

Resin

Resin tiles offer lots of customization for clients. They are incredibly water resistant, can imitate other 3D surfaces like stone, and well long story short, they can be anything you want them to be. One of the complaints against these types of tiles, however, is that they tend to chip. Bathroom floors and backsplashes are a couple of particularly great spaces to use resin tiles.

In the end, there are no tiles that are greater than others. Each type has its own qualities, strengths, and weaknesses. So, it is just up to you to know what you want to use them for and decide on what will work best for you based on your personal needs and taste.
